Understanding Science 系列讲座
"Understanding Science" is a Café Scientifique-style programme which provides an opportunity for anyone who is curious about science, or wants to know more about what's happening at the frontiers of research today, to find out by listening to leading scientists from China and abroad talking about their work. The talks are informal and accessible to everyone, with no specialist knowledge required. Afterwards, there is an opportunity for plenty of questions and discussion. "Understanding Science" was set up by Fellows on the European Union Science and Technology Fellowship (STF) Programme and following the end of that programme is being organized by the UK Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC) and Institute of Physics (IoP).
The next "Understanding Science" event will be held at 7. 30 p.m. on Tuesday 9th October in the Bridge Café in Wudaokou, when Prof. Clive Greated (University of Edinburgh) will talk on "Water Power" and describe how a whole new generation of novel wave power machines are beginning to feed energy to the grid. Much of the work he will describe has been carried out in collaboration with researchers in Dalian University of Technology. Please see the attachments for further details and directions to the Bridge Café .
